Aotea Lagoon

The Aotea Lagoon project in Papakōwhai, Porirua involved revitalising a duck pond within the precinct to create a sustainable and natural environment. This included relocating aquatic species like fish, eels, and inanga to nearby streams and removing years of contaminated sediment from the pond base. The area was stabilised with a rock drainage layer before being transformed into a meandering stream that flows into the tidal lagoon. The project was completed with grassing and landscaping, integrating the new stream seamlessly into the park. As Engineer to Contract and Project Manager, our role ensured the project met environmental and community-focused goals.
