Manawai Individual Service Units (ISU)

The Manawai Individual Service Units are a Forensic Intellectual Disability secure inpatient facility. It comprises 6 units designed as one-bedroom apartments, with individual kitchen, lounge, and bathroom to cater to long-term clients.

Kensway procured the full array design consultants, and led the full design, Building Consent and administration of Resource Consent, and tender and contract process. Kensway managed the Construction phase, and was responsible for Consent issues, coordination of consultants, management of Main Contractor, project financials alongside the Project Quantity Surveyor.

Key stakeholder contribution to key design elements during the design process, and ongoing communication during construction assisted in the success of this project.

In particular, the construction site was directly adjacent to an operational secure care facility, careful communication between the Main Contractor and Project Manager to the operational facility ensured disruption to staff and clients were minimised.
