Wellington Hospital Temporary Decant Ward L4
The 12 bed, modular build, Temporary Decant Ward Project was borne out of a need to pivot from an existing plan and create a new decant space to support the Copper Pipe Remediation programme, ensuring no significant delays or cost impacts. One of the planned decant spaces was transformed into a high dependency unit through out-of-the-box thinking. Once our methodology was confirmed, the team swiftly moved into design, consenting, and planning for offsite construction.
In just 10 months, we completed the first modular ward in New Zealand (to our knowledge), craned it onto the site, and finished the final fit-out. This offsite construction approach was essential to avoid delays and minimise impacts on the Theatres located below the ward.
