The Te Omanga Hospice Foundation initially engaged Kensway to explore options for seismic resilience following the Kaikoura Earthquake which saw the existing buildings identified as earthquake prone. After investigation, Kensway recommended to the Foundation that it would be more cost effective to demolish and rebuild on their existing grounds in Lower Hutt. An added benefit of this option was the new building not only being seismically resilient, but could also be designed around specific needs and not limited by existing constraints.

On behalf of the Foundation, Kensway procured the full array design consultants, and led the full design, Building Consent and administration of Resource Consent, and ECI tender and contract process.

Kensway managed the Construction phase, and were responsible for Consent issues, coordination of consultants, management of Main Contractor, and project financials through our Quantity Surveying team.

Management of public donations of products and services during the course of the project required careful collaboration with the Main Contractor.

The Te Omanga Hospice Foundation now has a modern and future-proofed building that will see them continue to provide palliative care in the Lower Hutt community for many years to come.
